New high school for Jordan Springs

The new high school for Jordan Springs will include modern classrooms and support classrooms for at least 1,000 students, a library, specialist workshops for science, wood and metal work, a covered outdoor learning area (COLA) and canteen, a multipurpose hall for sports and performance, sports courts, playing fields and landscaping.

The new principal will be appointed in late 2025, and will be on board in early 2026.  They will then work with the community to develop a school vision, plans for the future and the new school identity, such as the motto, colours and uniform.  

On Day 1 Term 1 2027, the school will welcome Year 7 and 8 students. In 2028 the year groups will expand to include Year 9, with an additional year group added each year. This will lead to the first full Year 7-12 cohort in 2031, creating a vibrant learning community for all students.

This approach will make sure we can provide a large variety of subjects. This is particularly important for Year 9 and beyond, as it helps us offer a range of electives that match student interests, for example science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), creative and performing arts, humanities, and health sciences.

We will start collecting expressions of interest from local families about 12 months before the school opens, in line with usual enrolment processes for students commencing high school. More information can be found here: edu.nsw.link/Enrol-NSWHighSchool.

The intake area for the new high school will cover the catchment areas of both Jordan Springs Public School and Ropes Crossing Public School.

The intake area will be published on School Finder approximately one year before the school opens, and we will notify the community when this occurs. School intake areas are developed using the latest population data on families in the area with consideration of other factors, such as nearby schools.

Traffic and transport considerations are being addressed to enhance accessibility and safety. An independent traffic management specialist advises the department on what is needed to maintain traffic flow, encourage active transport and parking provisions. Initiatives include:

• Working in partnership with stakeholders such as Penrith City Council and Transport for NSW (TfNSW), we will focus on improving walking, cycling and public transport access.

• Raised pedestrian crossings (wombat crossings) will be built on Infantry Road and Armoury Road, prioritising the safety of pedestrians.

• Buses will use the existing bus stop on Armoury Road near Chaffey Street if Park Edge Road and Infantry Street aren’t available for use.
