New high school for Flinders

As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering $2.3 billion for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

To accommodate the future needs of communities across NSW, the NSW Government is planning for future schools, including a new high school that will serve the Flinders, Shell Cove and Shellharbour communities in the Illawarra.

The project is currently in the planning phase. Further updates will be released as the project progresses.

The benefits

The new high school will be located next to Flinders Public School, cater for 750 students and is expected to open Day 1 Term 1 2029. It will include:

  • 33 classrooms 
  • 3 support classrooms
  • specialist workshops for science, wood and metal work
  • sports courts and playing fields
  • covered outdoor learning area (COLA)
  • canteen
  • library and administration facilities
  • landscaping
  • multipurpose hall for performance and sports.
