Liverpool High School (provisional) redevelopment

Construction of the temporary boys school will start in mid-2025 and is expected to be complete in early 2026. Once this is complete, construction will start on the new permanent high school.

We will provide regular updates to the community as we move through these next steps.

The temporary boys school will provide a safe, comfortable, and fully equipped learning

environment while construction of the new school is underway. The buildings conform to the same high standards required for all NSW public schools and include heating and air conditioning, natural ventilation and lighting.

Liverpool Girls High School will remain operational until the new co-educational school is open.

The school will temporarily be known as Liverpool High School.

A consultation process following departmental guidelines will take place with students, parents and staff, and the local AECG and elders, to determine the new name for the school.

The school community will be consulted on issues such as uniform, motto and other important aspects of school identity.

Students do not need to wear a new uniform during the transition to the new co-educational school.

Particular care will be taken to support HSC students during the transition. All Stage 6 courses that begin at Liverpool Boys and Girls High Schools will be maintained through to students' HSC examinations in the year of the transition.

We understand transport is a key concern for the community. A School Transport Plan will be developed to encourage students to choose alternative modes of transport, which is the primary and most effective means of mitigating demands and congestion on the surrounding roads.

We will continue consulting with Liverpool Council and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to ensure the transport needs for the new school are met.

The Department of Education promotes sustainable travel opportunities, and the project includes several measures to support this, including:

• undercover bike and scooter parking
• a designated pick up and drop off area
• a bus bay
• a pedestrian crossing on Forbes Street to give pedestrians priority and increase the safety of students arriving by foot or bicycle
• new footpaths connecting into existing pedestrian infrastructure.

Active and green travel is encouraged for both students and teachers. Car parking spaces will be provided for staff on site, accessed via Lachlan Street.
