As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering $3.9 billion for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

To support current and future growth in the area, this project will deliver a new public primary school and preschool at 1 Pennant Way in Gables. The NSW Government has committed to building a new preschool at every new government primary school in NSW, to boost access to preschool across the state, and a new public preschool will be built as part of the Gables project. The new public preschool for Gables will be among the 100 public preschools to be built across NSW by 2027, pending building and regulatory approvals.

The preschool will accommodate 60 children per day and will include playrooms, outdoor play spaces and amenities.

The benefits

The new school will cater for approximately 1,000 students and will include:

44 modern classrooms and 3 support learning classrooms
a library and canteen
administration and staff facilities
a covered outdoor learning area (COLA)
a multipurpose hall
outside of school hours (OOSH) care facilities
play spaces and a sports court.

The new public preschool will accommodate 60 children per day and will include:

3 preschool rooms
an outdoor play area
administration area, amenities and staff rooms.

All in-ground electrical, hydraulic, stormwater and sewer services are complete.
Concrete slabs have been poured for the ground floor of Blocks B, C, D and E. The first-floor slabs are being poured for Blocks B and D.
Structural steel has been installed in Blocks A and E.Scaffolding has been put up around Blocks B, C and D.

School naming

We are pleased to let you know, following consultation with the local community and stakeholders, the new school has been named Gables Public School.

Welcome to the foundation Principal of Gables Public School

Following a merit selection process, Mr Sean Montgomery has been appointed as the Principal of Gables Public School.

Mr Montgomery comes with over 30 years of experience in public education in North-West Sydney, including principal leadership across 3 primary schools.

Frequently asked questions

What infrastructure will be provided to support transport and traffic around the school site?

An independent traffic management specialist has provided advice to the department on maintaining traffic flow, encouraging active transport and appropriate parking provisions.

The project is delivering a range of transport infrastructure works and public domain improvements, including a bus zone, upgraded pedestrian walkways, wombat pedestrian crossings, pedestrian refuges and bicycle parking, to promote the use of active and sustainable modes of transportation.

What is the school intake area for the new primary school?

The school enrolment intake area (sometimes known as ‘catchment’) will be confirmed closer to the school opening and will be based on the most up to date demographic data and detailed projections on the number of school aged children living in the local area at the time the school opens.

We will publish the intake area and enrolment information for this project when construction nears completion. In the meantime, ‘School Finder’ is an online tool for parents to use to locate NSW public schools in your intake area. This can be accessed at education.nsw.gov.au/school-finder.

Will the preschool have a separate entrance?
