Eagle Vale Sports High School upgrade

Following community feedback, we are working with our designers on locating the flood lights in a place where the half-sized playing field will have full lighting coverage.

On nights where lighting is required for sports, the field lighting will be turned off by 8:30 pm. If lighting is required after this time, the school will communicate this with the community ahead of time.

Growthbuilt was appointed as the construction contractor in late 2025. 

Construction started in March 2026.

We will work with the construction contractors to manage impacts on students and the local community. We will ensure the school and neighbours are notified before work takes place.

Standard construction working hours are:

• 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday

• 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays

• no work on Sundays or public holidays.

We will notify the community if we need to perform unexpected out-of-hours works.

Prior to project commencement, the closest sports high school to the Macarthur area was Westfields Sports High in Fairfield. This meant previously that up-and-coming athletes in the region had to make long trips out of the area to pursue their athletic ambitions at other sports high schools. A sports high school at Eagle Vale ensures students from the entire Macarthur region would have public transport access to the school within one hour.

The Talented Sports Program (TSP) caters to students excelling in sports, alongside a strong academic program. The TSP includes basketball, cricket and rugby league as the foundation sports. The TSP, which runs in another seven NSW public high schools, has a long tradition of nurturing some of the country’s best up-and-coming athletes.

The new selective sports stream has commenced in Term 1, 2025, which offers the Talented Sports Program. Trials for the 2025 Talented Sports Program were held in July 2024 for Year 7 and Year 9 Rugby League, Year 7 and Year 9 Basketball and in September 2024 for Year 7 Cricket. Eagle Vale High School reached out to over 125 primary schools in the lead up to the inaugural trials for the TSP to advertise the opportunity to students throughout greater South Western Sydney and provided details on how to get involved.

To qualify for enrolment at Eagle Vale Sports High School, a student must either live in the local drawing area or be selected on merit as a talented sports person. The application and trial period for the Talented Sports Program for 2026 has now closed. Trials for the program took place during Term 1 and Term 2 of this year.
