A labour of love: Asset Management teams hard at work these holidays

As NSW students and their families enjoy the spring school holidays, many schools in the state are undergoing makeovers with hundreds of projects underway.

Teams across School Infrastructure NSW’s Asset Management regions work hard to schedule construction and renovation projects during holiday periods to prevent disruption to student learning.  

This spring holiday period is an especially busy time for schools in Sydney’s south- west. A large number of projects are being delivered to ensure students have access to the best facilities to support their learning.

Exciting projects taking place in south-west Sydney schools these holidays include a new shade structure at Canterbury Vale School, the installation of air conditioning in the library building, and the addition of a new lift at Holroyd High School. Bellambi Public School is getting an upgrade to its school hall while Dalmeny Public Schol will see resurfacing of its sports court and carpark area.

Sazeda Akhtar, relieving Senior Group Leader in the south-western Sydney Regional Office, said it was important that students’ learning isn’t disrupted.

“Growing families continue to move to this beautiful part of Sydney and as a result our school populations continue to grow and the facilities need to keep up,” Ms Akhtar said.  

“We make sure that many of the noisy projects are scheduled during the holidays and completed before students are back at school.  

“It’s a delight to see the reaction of students and staff when they are back from holidays and a project such as a new shade area, a new hall or a new sports court is finished and ready for them to use.”

  • Campbelltown Performing Arts High School: a new lift and walkway  

  • Sir Joseph Banks High School: a new lift and linkway  

  • Liverpool Public School: roofing replacement  

  • Bossley Park High School: construction of an indoor sports centre
