Release date: 31 May 2023

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car today welcomed the first concrete slab poured on the site of the new high school at Wentworth Point, a major milestone in the progress of the project.

Located on Burroway Road, the completed school will accommodate approximately 1500 students and cater to the growing population in the Wentworth Point, Sydney Olympic Park, and Concord West communities.

The completed high school will include flexible learning spaces, a multipurpose hall for sports and performance, outdoor spaces including landscaped recreation areas and games courts, new performing arts spaces, and canteen facilities.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said she was delighted to see the foundation for the new school being poured.

“Growing communities need schools. One of our key aims is to support growth in enrolment demand in Greater Western Sydney, including this community.

“The delivery of this high school is a vital part of this mission, as well as planned upgrades to Wentworth Point Public School,” she said.

A project to upgrade the neighbouring Wentworth Point Public School is currently in planning.

The upgrade will include additional permanent learning spaces to meet growing enrolment demand in the area, as well as maximising space in the school’s library to better suit the needs of the school. The works will also include the removal of several demountables.

Member for Parramatta Donna Davis said she was pleased to see progress on the delivery of infrastructure to support the growing population on the Olympic Peninsula.

“Our community has grown and changed significantly over the years, and it will continue this trajectory. It is vital every student in our community has a place in a local school.

“This progress is great news for families in our growing community,” she said.
