Cross-Jurisdictional Educational Infrastructure Working Group finally meets in-person

Release date: 16 June 2023

The first in-person meeting of the Cross-Jurisdictional Educational Infrastructure Working Group (CJEIWG) was recently held in Sydney, after years of COVID travel restrictions had kept the Working Group a virtual one. This group, with members from Australian and New Zealand jurisdictions, was established in 2020 and meets quarterly to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among the education infrastructure directorates and representative organisations of each jurisdiction.

The 2-day Sydney event was hosted by School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) in Sydney, with 13 Working Group members in attendance, including representatives from WA, NT, QLD, VIC and NSW. Attendees had the opportunity to connect in person for the first time to share learnings on delivering education infrastructure and hear from Lara Newman, Chief Executive of LocatED, a UK company dedicated to schooling and property.  The Working Group also visited 4 different schools to get a firsthand look at their unique project features and design principles. The tour was an exciting experience, and Working Group members took note of the key elements of school design and operations.

Overall, the event was a remarkable success, as members were able to engage with one another and gain insight into the different education infrastructure projects throughout NSW.
