NSW public schools a hive of activity these spring holidays

Public schools around NSW have been abuzz these spring holidays as maintenance works were undertaken to spruce up classrooms and grounds across the state.

Holiday maintenance focuses on vital repairs and upgrades in order to provide the best facilities for the students and staff at public schools. Included in the repairs and maintenance work are floor coverings, drainage, ground works, fencing and painting to ensure schools remain in top condition.

A major concentration of the work involved roofing repairs and replacements at schools including:

  • Balgowlah Heights Public School
  • Coleambally Central School
  • Elderslie High School in Camden
  • Epping Boys High School
  • Goulburn West Public School
  • Griffith Public School
  • Jennings Public School in Lismore
  • Lakemba Public School
  • Moree Public School
  • Narrandera Public School
  • Ulladulla Public School
  • Warwick Farm Public School

Paintwork refreshed at many schools including:

  • Bondi Beach Public School
  • Crescent Head Public School
  • Glebe Public School
  • Gunnedah Public School
  • Kensington Public School
  • Morisset High School
  • Newtown North Public School
  • Ryde Secondary College
  • Shoalhaven High School
  • Wilcannia Central School.

Flooring will refurbished at

  • Crown Street Public School
  • Bundeena Public School
  • Maroubra Bay Public School
  • Cranebrook High School.

Other planned work includes the refurbishment of sports facilities at Heathcote Public School, Red Hill Public School in Wagga Wagga and Riverside Girls High School at Lane Cove as well as fencing work at Hallidays Point Public School and Hannam Vale Public School on the mid-north coast.

Investment in maintaining the state’s 2,200 public schools will see a record $1.3 billion is being spent on school maintenance over five years, along with $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools to provide students with healthy and comfortable learning environments.
