First sod turned at Wamberal Public School

Release date: 15 October 2018

Construction will now begin on Wamberal Public School’s $20 million upgrade, which is being funded by the NSW Government.

The upgrade will deliver cutting-edge new school resources including 15 new classrooms and upgraded core facilities, which include upgrade of existing administration and staff block, extension of existing hall, upgrade of canteen and student toilets and a new general storage area. Two existing classrooms will be converted to special education classrooms with an area for activities.

The works will help the school cater for the growing number of students in the local area.

The project is scheduled for completion in early 2020.

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch welcomed works beginning on the project.

“Our school community will benefit greatly from this major upgrade at Wamberal Public School,” Mr Crouch said.

“I’m excited to see the investment being made by the NSW Government in this vital local school.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was building on the state’s world-class education system so our children are ready for the jobs of the future.

“This project will deliver a high-quality educational environment our children can succeed and thrive in, now and into the future,” Rob Stokes said.

This project is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program over the next four years, which will deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities throughout NSW. This is the largest investment into public school infrastructure by any state government in Australian history.
