Brand new school facilities for Denistone East PS

Release date: 15 November 2017

Students at Denistone East Public School will enjoy world-class learning facilities including a brand new building with state-of-the-art classrooms, with an upgrade project funded by the NSW Government.

The tender to construct the new building will be released early next year following Ryde City Council’s approval of the Development Application.

The upgrade includes the creation of six future-focused classrooms that will be adaptable to suit the different needs of students, two dedicated open-plan learning spaces and a further dedicated space for group work.

The upgrade will allow demountables to be removed from the school site, freeing up play space. The design of the new building will also provide better connection between the school’s split campus.

The schools’ pool will be redeveloped into a new indoor aquatic centre as part of a shared use project agreement between the Royal Life Saving Society and the NSW Department of Education, announced earlier this year.

There will also be an additional space which could be used after-hours by the local community. The school’s administration building will be refurbished as well.

Member for Ryde Victor Dominello welcomed the upgrade.

“It’s vital we provide the education facilities our local community needs now and into the future,” Mr Dominello said.

“I’m pleased the NSW Government is delivering this important project.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the works which are scheduled for completion by early 2020, will help meet the growing enrolment demand in the local area..

“This project will ensure our students and teachers have the best resources they can get so they can succeed and thrive in the 21st century,” Rob Stokes said.
