Jerrabomberra High School opened to Years 7 and 8 for Day 1 Term 1 2023 in purpose built temporary facilities located at Jerrabomberra Public School.

The State Significant Development (SSD) application has been approved by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE). Construction of the new permanent high school is continuing. It will have modern facilities to accommodate approximately 500 students.

The new high school will have 25 flexible learning spaces including 3 support learning spaces in modern facilities and will include:

While the original design met the Educational Facilities and Standards Guidelines (EFSG), following feedback an additional science laboratory will be provided. This design change is being finalised.

Construction works will continue on site, including ground floor concrete slabs, installation of structural steel and roof sheeting after which work will begin on the facades of the buildings.

When will the permanent high school open for students?

What is the student capacity for the new school?

The project will deliver 25 learning spaces to accommodate approximately 500 students. This includes 3 learning spaces that can be dedicated to Specialist Support Classes.

The core school facilities at the new high school have been designed to accommodate future expansion to meet potential future enrolment increases. The department will continue to monitor population and enrolment trends in the local area, and work with the local School Infrastructure office and school leadership to manage enrolment demand as needed.

The department consults with other government agencies and the private sector to monitor population growth and to plan for new and upgraded schools accordingly.

What type of high school will be constructed?

The new high school in Jerrabomberra will be a Years 7 to 12 comprehensive high school.

Our high schools provide students from Years 7 to 12 with a quality education in a broad range of subjects. Our high schools have access to technologies to support the implementation of the NSW Curriculum requirements. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are essential areas of study that foster students’ skills and prepare them to participate in a rapidly changing world and contribute to Australia’s future development and prosperity.

Subjects offered by secondary schools follow the requirements set by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to enable students to receive their Record of School Achievement or Higher School Certificate.
