Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School transition to co-education

The early stages of planning for the transition to co-education have begun, with community consultation held in May and June 2026.

Throughout May, a series of 4 in-person consultation sessions were held with representatives of key stakeholder groups. These representatives included:

• staff members
• current students
• principals from local primary and high schools
• representatives from the School Council, Farrer Old Boys Association, Parents, Teachers & Friends (PT&F), AECG and Isolated Children’s Parents Association.

From 1 June to 12 June 2026, an online survey was open to the public to gather input and feedback on the model, timeline, infrastructure, and operational needs to be considered to ensure a successful transition. More than 680 responses were received. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide their feedback.

Investigations into the current infrastructure and site conditions have started and we are continuing to work with the school executive and leadership team to ensure all operational needs are considered throughout this process.

The process of collating and reviewing the feedback provided during consultation is currently underway. Feedback from the consultation sessions and survey will be used to inform the timeframe and model for the transition to co-education.

Infrastructure options will continue to be investigated, and we will keep the community updated throughout the planning phase.
