COVID-19 update: Construction and maintenance in NSW public schools

Release date: 12 August 2021

In line with the NSW Government’s COVID-19 Guidelines, construction on School Infrastructure projects located in the local government areas (LGAs) of concern will resume from Wednesday 11 August 2021 with enhanced COVID-safe measures.

Strict compliance with the enhanced COVID-safe measures will be enforced, including:

  • maintaining up to 50 per cent capacity of the project’s maximum daily workforce
  • monitoring and recording the vaccination and COVID test status of workers who live in the LGAs of concern
  • ensuring workers wear masks at all times, including indoor and outdoor work.

Construction and maintenance work remains permitted in Greater Sydney, affected areas of regional NSW and regional NSW. In addition to major projects, NSW public schools continue to require maintenance and upgrades to ensure the safety and longevity of our education facilities.

We will monitor and control where and when maintenance work takes place in schools, with measures in place to ensure that all work sites have a COVID-19 safety plan in place before approval to start work is granted.

Safety is the number one priority for School Infrastructure NSW and we are following all health advice in relation to construction sites.

We will publish regular updates on our website to communicate any changes on our construction sites, in line with NSW Government’s COVID-19 Guidelines.
