NSW public schools share their play spaces over the summer holidays

Release date: 19 December 2019

Many NSW schools will be providing safe, free and fun places for kids to play over the long summer holidays this year through the Share Our Space program.

With the hot summer weather ahead, the Share Our Space program has targeted schools where there is a need to provide greater access for families and residents to outdoor green space and naturally shaded play areas.

The Department of Education is carefully assessing schools to ensure those which participate are safe and secure, and will continue to monitor sites over the holiday period. Not every school will participate every holidays but over time Share Our Space will become a regular part of school activity and community engagement. The Department’s vision is to ensure this can be delivered in harmony with other shared use initiatives like out-of-hours care and local sport.
