Penshurst West Public School major upgrade complete

Release date: 22 May 2020

The multi-million dollar upgrade at Penshurst West Public School is now complete, with staff and students already using the new facilities.

The $8.8 million project has delivered seven new permanent classrooms to replace existing out dated buildings as well as one special programs room.

The building is complete, and students have moved out of demountables and into the new building.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure said all that remained was for work on the new carpark to be finished before the project is officially handed back from the builders to the school community.

"The upgrades at the school will help students experience the benefits of flexible learning spaces in a new purpose-built environment.”

"I know that the entire school community has been eagerly waiting to experience the new facilities and I am glad to that see students and teachers are now using them.”

The NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over four years to deliver 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, a record $1.3 billion is being spent on school maintenance over five years, along with a record $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
