Work set to begin on Ingleburn High upgrade

Release date: 22 January 2018

Teachers and students at Ingleburn High School are to benefit from a $10 million major upgrade featuring 10 new future-focused classrooms funded by the NSW Government.

The contract has been awarded for the project which will see the new learning and teaching spaces built in a single level block with facilities for outdoor learning.

Traffic flow in and out of the school will also be improved with additional passing bays constructed on the school access road.

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project expected to be complete in 2019 will increase the school’s capacity and see the school well positioned for anticipated growth in the area.

“This exciting upgrade will transform the school and not only provide the high quality learning facilities that local families deserve but improve amenity and safety with enhanced vehicle access in and out of the school grounds.” Mr Stokes said.

“The successful tenderer will be asked to create the best, most sustainable solutions for flexible spaces that allow teaching and learning to keep pace with education trends of today and the future.

“Our vision is to deliver world-class learning and teaching facilities to support the aspiration of the NSW public education system to be one of the finest in the world.”

Ingleburn High School is one of 13 schools in Sydney’s west where upgrade works are scheduled to begin in coming months at a combined cost of more than $220 million.  The 13 projects are in addition to scores of new schools and school upgrades already underway in the region.

Since 2011, the Government has committed $1.75 billion to over 70 new and upgraded school projects in Western Sydney.

The NSW Government is spending $4.2 billion over four years building 120 new or upgraded schools and $747 million on school maintenance. This is the biggest investment in public school infrastructure in the history of NSW
